Frequently Asked Questions
- Q.: How are we funded?
A.: ACCC receives no public funding of any kind. We are an all volunteer group supported entirely by the generosity of individual donors, foundations, and businesses. Please lend your support by sending a donation to: ACCC, P.O. Box 1612, Mobile AL36633. All contributions are tax deductible.
- Q.: At what age can my pet be fixed safely?
A.: Four month old healthy kittens can be safely fixed by a licensed veterinarian. They bounce back quickly and go on to lead happy lives with no accidental litters. Happy cat happy you!
- Q.: Should male cats be fixed as well?
A.: Yes, intact males can stray and mate sometimes bringing their new “lady friend” home. Neutering also cuts down on the spraying and odors made when cats mark the territory.
- Q.: Should I wait for the first heat before I spay my cat?
A.: No, often it is too late when well meaning people wait to fix their females. Did you know more than 75% of all kittens born are accidents?? Millions are killed in shelters every year. Spaying and neutering is the #1 way to prevent suffering and save lives. You only have to do it once!! A small price to pay for a lifetime of bliss.
- Q.: How long does a cat stay pregnant?
A.: 62 days! She can have 4 litters a year.
